Artificial Plants for Amazon and Marketplace Sellers: Images, FBA and Compliance

Selling artificial plants on Amazon, or on any marketplace, is not the same business as selling them to a shop. The product is only part of what the buyer buys; the rest is the listing package. A seller is purchasing a product that has to pass a listing review, ship in packaging a fulfilment centre can handle, and arrive in a condition that survives a customer who opens the box. This guide covers what to settle with a supplier before the first order, and the mistakes that are expensive to fix afterwards.

The image set is part of the product

The most common failure is ordering goods with no image plan. Marketplaces require the main image on a clean white background with the product filling the frame, and a listing built around a low-resolution or inconsistent image set converts poorly and attracts returns. When you order {PRODUCT} - or any reference in this range - we can supply images shot on a clean white background, plus additional angles, size reference shots and packaging shots, and we keep that image set on file so a re-order can be listed against the same assets rather than needing the photographs taken again.

For private label programmes the images can be produced in your own style, or the raw files handed over so your listing team can work with them directly. The useful point is that what appears in the listing should be the item that actually ships, not a rendering of something similar. We shoot the production batch rather than illustrating a reference, which is what keeps the colour in the listing and the colour in the box the same.

Product data that matches the listing

A listing that publishes one specification and ships another is the root of most returns in this category. For each item number we can supply material, size, flower head count, pot type, weight, carton dimensions, pieces per carton and HS code, so what you publish matches what ships. If you already sell a similar product, send us your listing text and your photographs and we will tell you which of our references correspond, including the cases where our dimensions differ from your current supplier and your copy needs updating.

Size reference shots matter more in this category than in most. Buyers using artificial plants judge scale from the photograph, and a plant that looks like 40 cm in the listing and arrives reading as 25 cm produces a return and a review.

Packaging for FBA and for direct fulfilment

Two packaging decisions need to be made before production. The first is whether the unit is packed retail-ready, which matters when you are sending customer orders directly and want the box to arrive presentable rather than as a bagged item inside a carton. The second is the master carton, because a fulfilment centre receives and stores by carton, and the carton dimensions and weight drive both the shipping cost and the storage fee.

Private label packaging is available at every level: logo, barcode and label on the individual unit, on the inner box, or on the master carton. Barcode placement is fixed in the packing drawing before the bulk run, so the scan rate in the fulfilment centre is not left to chance.

European compliance before you list

For any seller shipping into the European Union, the General Product Safety Regulation applies from 13 December 2024. It requires an EU-established responsible person, manufacturer contact details and safety warnings on the product, and Amazon checks those three fields before a listing goes live. This is a listing review issue, not just a shipping issue, and it cannot be solved after production because it frequently requires a physical label on the unit.

What we supply for this: manufacturer information, the material and test documentation behind the declaration, and warning label text for your review before the run. We also handle the chain of custody documentation for FSC-certified materials where your customers expect it.

Minimum order quantities and testing a range

Our standard minimum is 1,000 pieces per design and colourway. We do not drop the minimum for a first order. What we can do is let several references share one container, so a seller testing a range is not forced to choose one SKU and guess, and the freight is spread across the range rather than paid twice.

Samples are ordered separately from the production minimum, and existing stock samples can be sent for quality checking while the assortment is still being decided, which is usually the cheapest way to settle whether a reference is worth listing before committing volume to it.

Supply terms and repeat ordering

Lead time is normally 25 to 40 days after sample approval and deposit, and production is planned against your sales cycle rather than ours. We quote EXW, FOB or CIF and work with your forwarder if you already have one. Payment is normally T/T with a deposit and the balance before shipment, and for repeat orders the specification is already fixed, so re-ordering is a confirmation rather than a negotiation. If your listing is selling steadily and you need a replenishment, tell us the item number and quantity and we will confirm the production slot.
